Work with a Published Military Historian
I am a published military historian with an MA from the University of Buckingham and an Associate Fellowship of the Royal Historical Society. I have written two books on Second World War military history, published by Pen & Sword Military and Fonthill Media.
Before turning to military history, I spent 30 years working in marketing. I trained as a copywriter, and I am a CIM Chartered Marketer. This means I can write for both academic and general audiences, and I understand how to present historical content in ways that work for publishers, media, and the public.
I welcome enquiries from individuals, organisations and institutions who share my interest in the British military during the Second World War. If you have a project that could benefit from a historian with research experience, published credentials and a professional communications background, I am happy to discuss how I might help you.
Writing and content
I am available for commissioned writing on Second World War subjects. This could include articles, essays, guest blog posts, contributions to edited volumes or content for newsletters and publications. I can also review written material for historical accuracy.
Research collaborations
My research is based on primary sources held at The National Archives, the Imperial War Museum, The National Army Museum and other specialist collections. I am open to research collaborations with other historians, authors, publishers, museums and heritage organisations working on WW2 projects.
Talks and lectures
I am available to give talks on Second World War topics to societies, community groups, schools, universities and other organisations. I can speak about my published work or on broader subjects within my area of knowledge.
Media and broadcasting
I welcome approaches from TV, film, radio and podcast producers working on Second World War content. I am available for on-screen or on-air contributions, historical fact-checking and advisory work.
Museums and heritage
I am open to working with museums, heritage sites, exhibition and event organisers on projects related to the Second World War. This could include exhibition research, content development, public programming and marketing communications.
Educational work
I am available to work with schools and universities on educational projects about WW2. This could include guest lectures, workshops or student research guidance.
Book reviews and recommendations
I review and, where appropriate, personally recommend military history books, museums and events to my audience through the website, blog and my social media channels.
What I do not take on
I focus on the British and Commonwealth military during the Second World War. I do not take on projects that fall outside this period or that promote historical inaccuracies. My audience is mainly UK and EU-based.
